Sorry about today's post, folks.

My iPad Mini (or, as I affectionately call it, my "Mini-pad") is the machine that makes this webcomic appear online, and, apparently, it's on it's last legs.

One by one, my apps are dying, unable to update on this five-year old electronic dinosaur.

Unfortunately, it looks like my Blogger capabilities are the latest to be dying now. It took many attempts and Herculean efforts to squeeze out today's webcomic post, hence the square format.

Not only that, but I noticed, too late, a spelling error. And there's no way I'm going to redo it now, after breaking a sweat getting this far!

Anyway, if this webcomic suddenly disappears, blame the built-in obsolescence of today's electronic devices.

And if anyone wants to start a fundraiser for a new iPad Mini for Squirrel.....

Four years?

Hey friends, can you believe this squirrelly webcomic is FOUR YEARS OLD this week?

I know, me neither!

A squirrel can accomplish a lot in four years, in over 775 posts. By this time, some webcomic blogs will have millions of followers, book deals, Comic Con tour schedules, and their talented creators can quit their day jobs.

Not to say DOAS is totally unsuccessful by our society's current narrow definition of success - dependent on "likes" and "followers", and other ephemeral, external measurements of validation. In these four years of regular postings, this webcomic has accrued a fairly loyal following of at least three regular, high quality fans (Hi Mom!).

But don't worry, loyal fans! Squirrel and the gang are looking forward to many more silly adventures, but just not as frequent. So if you enjoy this webcomic, check out weekly posts on Mondays starting next week.

Bon appetit!

Squirrel and Sloth, a special guest post!

A very special thank you to Heather Mullen, who has provided a special guest post for today, keeping the theme of the recent Slow thread. I think she has captured the spirit of Squirrel and this webcomic perfectly!

Hey, friends - you, too, can send me a guest comic if the squirrelly spirit moves you. In fact, Squirrel's 4 year anniversary is next month (FOUR YEARS!?!) and I could use a little down time, so guest comics would be very welcome, allowing me a little time off to recharge and regroup and take this comic into the future...

If YOU would like to submit a guest comic (and keep it squirrelly, and keep it clean, kids), send it to

In the meantime, a huge thank you to Heather!
