Here's the final instalment of Squirrel's Fables - modernized, squirrellized versions of the classic Æsop's Fables - at least for now. I hope you've enjoyed them!
This one is extra-special, because the pen and ink original will also be a piece in an upcoming solo art show I'm doing this October called Well Read. It will be a multi-media one-squirrel art extravaganza all about books - books I've loved, books that have shaped me, books with sentimental value, and so on.
Many of the pieces in the show, including this one, will be silently auctioned off and the money raised will be donated to my home-away-from-home, the Confederation Public Library in downtown Charlottetown, P.E.I.
So gentlemen, start your engines... (thank you to RuPaul)

Today's post is another edition of Squirrel's Fables, based on the classic Æsop's Fables, but modernized for our 21st Century world.

Here we go with another instalment of Squirrel's Fables - modernized and squirrellized versions of the classic Æsop's Fables.
Today's fable is based on one of my personal favourites - The Ant and the Grasshopper. I don't remember what I liked so much about this one as a young child, but it certainly made an impression on my developing psyche. Here, it's been given a new twist for today's crazy world. Hope you like it!

Hey kids! Remember Æsop's Fables? Those short stories about various animals getting into little dilemmas with a moral at the end? Weren't they great? Didn't they help guide you with their metaphorical messages and strict moral codes? Of course they did!
Well Squirrel has noticed that the world has changed - a LOT! - since old Æsop wrote those fables. People today just wouldn't relate to those endings, especially to those morals. And so, Squirrel has made some modifications.
Here we go with the first of the series, Squirrel's Fables. We hope you enjoy 'em!

Regular readers (apparently there are a few of you) (besides my mom) may recall that Squirrel was recently in lovely Summerside, PEI, doing a "demo day" at the Eptek Centre (see http://diaryofasquirrel.blogspot.com/2018/07/eptek-centre-demo-day.html for details).
(By the way, the comic art show, Behind the Panels, is still up for your viewing pleasure, and highly recommended!)
But there was more drama and intrigue that day in Summerside, and so the saga continues today with the comic depiction of a True Story, involving Squirrel and some lovely friends who visited the exhibit that day.
You know who you are, Bob and Earlene. Thanks for visiting me at the demo day and the fun story! And thanks to Dave Stewart and Dave Atkinson, who both, upon hearing the story, suggested it be made into a comic.
